At the Beach in January?

There is another American doctor in town who will be here until May.  This is his wife Laurie with me. We brought our boys (5 boys between us)  for a hike around the Cliffs.  Lesson learned, check the tide chart before taking the Cliff walk.  Lucky for us the tide was headed out so we made it safely and had an adventure!  We did a little yoga to pass the time while we waited for the tide to lower.

I handled the all day flight to New Zealand, I've adjusted to the time zone, I'm gaining confidence driving on the left side of the road, but I have no idea what month it is.  Being on the beach in January just does not compute.  When filling out forms, I've learned to put the day before the month, but am always searching for a calendar to understand when I am!  The beaches here are even more beautiful than I imagined with cliffs leading down to the shore, and cows grazing on top.  Even now in the height of the summer we can find ourselves alone on the beach.  Normally I would find this very appealing, but I find myself searching for busier beaches as I'm feeling a little lonely in my new home.

It is Mon. am, here, though I don't know when it is over by you! I do know you are on the beach and we are here in a beautiful snow covered winter experiencing a NEGATIVE 9 degree temperature at this moment! Oh boy...
Can't wait to keep up with you all.

  2. To know the time here think back six hours and forward a day. 3pm Monday in Vermont is 9am Tuesday in NZ. We are living in the future!
